Much needed day off for The NY Mets

July 6, 2009

After getting swept by The Phillies  , The Mets have a much needed day off.

Mets have lost 8 of their last 10 games.

It will be tough to recover from this even with the return of some of their regular players from the DL (expected to return after the all star break).  They are 4 games back and the division is now pretty tight with Atlanta Braves and Florida Marlins back in the NL eastern division race.

Next game will be Tuesady night at citi field.   Mike Pelfrey (6-3) gets the start at 7:10 pm for The Mets

Mets win games series against The Marlins

May 31, 2009

After losing yesterday mainly due to a poor outing from Redding, Mets win today mainly due to a great start from John Maine. Maine pitched 6 shutout innings and seems to always do well when pitching against The Marlins.

The bullpen was pretty good. J.J. Putz didn’t quite have his best stuff so Mets’ manager Jerry Manuel brought out Bobby Parnell just in time to get The Mets out of a bit of a jam having the tying run at third base.

Maine got some help with RBI doubles from Angel Pagan, Fernando Martinez and Omir Santos.

K Rod records another save.

Mets beat The Marlins 3 -2

NY Mets start June facing series with weak MLB Teams (Pirates and Nationals) and will look to capitalize on this before anticipating tougher game series with The Philadelphia Phillies and The New York Yankees.
