Playing 500 ball

May 29, 2010

The 2010 season for The New York Mets so far has been streaky.

Mets are now a game above .500 after last night’s loss to The Brewers ( 1st of 3 game series). Mets lose against The Brewers after sweeping The Phillies shutting them out 3 games and just before that winning 2 out of 3 against The Yankees.

If The Mets don’t win this game series against The Brewers ( team playing .417 ball ) it will make fans wonder what direction The Mets will take.

NY Mets look forward toward 2010

October 8, 2009

NY Mets ended the 2009 season Oct. 3rd sweeping The Houston Astros.

Looking forward toward a healthier more powerful Mets lineup (Murphy led the team in homers in 2009 season with 12) for 2010., Mets will also have to be concerned with the rotation ;  with the exception of Santana (13 wins 9 losses and a 3.13 era) everyone underachieved.

This is a season that many Met fans will want to forget but still will have a hard time in doing so.   Just about nothing went right for The NY Mets.

Blame management if you want, but under the circumstances, probably no MLB team would have done any better .

What a way to lose

August 24, 2009

An unassisted triple play ends the game at citi field Sunday August 23, 2009.

The unassisted triple play is one of the rarest feats in MLB and the only other time it actually ended a game was back in 1927.

How did it happen?

Eric Bruntlett caught  Jeff Francoeur’s line drive, then, Bruntlett stepped on second base which doubled off Luis Castillo; since Daniel Murphy was running on the pitch going to second base, he was right at Bruntlett to be tagged.  Unbelievable.

There are now 15 unassisted triple plays in the history of MLB.

Out of all plays can the unassisted triple play actually be considered the rarest occurence in MLB?
